Hi, I’m Kelly Boulé, a hypnotherapist and holistic nutrition consultant here in Kansas City. I’ve been practicing as a hypnotherapist for 21 years and incorporating nutrition consulting as part of my practice since 2007. Today I want to talk to you about a really simple exercise that I started doing last summer that has been a real deal changer for me, not only to help manage my weight, but also to help keep me energized and a whole host of other things I want to talk to you about today. This simple exercise is rebounding.
So I got this rebounding gadget. If you don’t know what a rebounder is, it’s like a mini-trampoline. I'm sure you know what the big trampolines are. This is one that’s just for a single person to hop up and down on. I got it at an estate sale a few years ago. Used it a few times and then it went under the bed. I hadn’t seen it for years. But last spring, 2020, when COVID hit, a lot of the gyms, including mine, closed.
I really wanted a way to keep exercising. I walk every morning, but I wanted to have something else to get my heartrate up really fast. So I decided to pull this rebounder out and basically start rebounding two to three minutes, about three times a day. Oh my gosh. It was a deal changer for me. My body felt better. My muscles got more toned. My legs that carry a lot of lymph in them and get really sluggish, got really toned. So today I’m excited to talk to you about this super simple exercise.
Rebounding is excellent for so many things. Number one, it really stimulates that lymphatic system. We have the cardiovascular system that benefits from cardio exercise, but sometimes we forget about the lymphatic system that can get really sluggish. And so rebounding is a great way to stimulate our lymphatic system and move water around. Our bodies actually carry more water than they do blood, so moving that water and getting our lymphatic system clear is a great way to lose weight. It’s a great thing for health. It’s a great way to tone the body.
The second thing rebounding is good for is also helping the cardiovascular system. I had read somewhere recently that just five minutes of rebounding equals close to twenty minutes of jogging as far as getting the heart rate up and things like that. So super, super good exercise that burns a lot of calories. It also helps reduce cellulite. I’ve noticed that cellulite on my legs and even my stomach, has been reduced as a result of rebounding.
True story. NASA really supports rebounding. They did tests for astronauts, trying to find an exercise that would help astronauts keep fit when they’re up in outer space. They discovered that rebounding is a great exercise for astronauts and helps improve bone density, which is super important for astronauts to maintain while up in outer space.
Rebounding tones your body and is a great stress reliever. I find a couple of minutes jumping up and down really helps my mind. I feel like it bounces those negative thoughts or stress thoughts out of your mind. It’s a really good quick stress reliever. And lastly, and it helps to improve lung capacity. I could go on and on about rebounding. Super, super simple exercise. Two to three minutes, three times a day. Guys, trust me on this one. It is a life changer.
Thanks so much for listening. I hope you’re having a great week. If you have comments or questions, please post them below or feel free to call or text me and I will be happy to answer them for you.
