Hi, I’m Kelly Boulé, hypnotherapist and holistic nutrition consultant here in Kansas City. Today I want to talk to you about five things you can do to energize your brain. Coming out of winter with the shorter, darker days and lack of light, I get a lot of clients coming in saying things like “Man, I’m struggling with brain fog and I’m tired and fatigued. And so today I want to talk about five things you can do to energize and re-energize your brain.
Number one is really super simple. Take some deep breaths. When you breathe to re-energize your brain, try breathing through your nose and out of your mouth. If you do that three or four times in a row, you will be surprised at how much better you’re going to feel. You will notice that you begin to feel more relaxed and ready to focus. Breathing is really important.
Another thing you can do to make sure that your brain stays energized is to get some good sleep. I say this a lot in these talks, but I really can’t emphasize it enough. Getting seven and a half to eight hours of good sleep every night is a great way to keep your brain energized.
The third one is exercising three or four times a week. You don’t need to spend an hour and fifteen minutes in a gym five times a week, as much as sometimes we’ve been told that. I find that some people get the best results when they’re just exercising three to four times a week. Some good cardio, 20 to 30 minutes, three to four times a week, can really help. Incorporating strength training, yoga, and stretching into your fitness routine are all great ways to keep your brain energized.
The fourth way to keep your brain energized is to take some brain supplements, food for your brain!. I love the Omega 3s. I drink a lot of smoothies and eat a lot of salads. Foods that have a lot of oxygen still in them can help oxygenate your brain, so think about foods that are living. If you don’t like to eat a lot of salads, especially if it’s cold out, throw your greens in a smoothie with some fruits and vegetables. This is a great way to keep that brain feeling light.
The last thing I recommend for energizing your brain is one of my favorite things, which I talk more about in this video/article, called rebounding. Maybe you’ve heard of rebounding and certainly you know what trampolines are. There are these little single person trampolines you can get. And you wouldn’t believe how jumping up and down on those for two to three minutes, two to three times a day can make such a difference. It is so good for you. This is such a great way to get more oxygen in your cells and more oxygen to your brain to re energize. I would highly recommend investing in one of these!
